Westermo, like many organisations, is committed to the protection of the environment. As well as looking at our own environmental impact our technology can be used to help others achieve their goal of carbon footprint reduction.
Our remote access solutions allow companies to reduce travel associated with maintenance and system upgrades. We also have technologies allowing the reuse of existing cable for high speed data communications and the connection of legacy systems to the latest IP networks ensuring old equipment can continue to be used.
Our designs ensure low power consumption ensuring significant savings over a product lifetime and are hence often found as part of systems in renewable energy projects.
Westermo is committed to Directives such as WEEE and ROHS ensuring a reduced environmental impact.
The management system of Westermo's manufacturing and R&D sites in Sweden conform to the Environmental Management System standard: ISO 14001:2015.

Download PDFWestermo has a great concern for the issue of ‘Conflict Minerals’, which involves the trade of minerals (and associated refined metals) originating in the region of the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and surrounding regions where armed conflict results in human rights violations and environmental damage. This issue is addressed by the Dodd- Frank Wall Street Reform and Customer Protection Act passed by the US Congress in July 2010.
Westermo use Tantalum, Tin and Gold in our products. Each of these metals has specific electrical properties which are necessary for the function of our products and cannot be replaced to provide the high level of functionality and quality demanded by our customers.
Westermo is committed to a socially responsible supply chain that, among other requirements, is Conflict Free. Westermo does not purchase directly from smelters or mines, however electronic components that we use do contain these metals. We are therefore working with our direct suppliers to understand their supply chain, determine the origin of these metals within those components and demand responsible purchasing activities from these suppliers.
We continue to work along with the electronics industry, as a whole, towards responsible purchasing practices and support appropriate regulations today and in the future.
Westermo is commited to a socially responsible metal supply chain that is conflict free.
